The Deadline for Proposal Submissions is April 4, 2018 at 5:00 PM (EDT).

Description

In its State Plan, the NCCDD sets out the goal that the Council will increase advocacy for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (I/DD) (Objective 3.2). More individuals with I/DD will lead and sustain self-directed lives through self-advocacy, family advocacy and stakeholder leadership. To reach this goal, the NCCDD has committed its funds to an initiative that will support grassroots groups, led by people with disabilities, to raise awareness of and increase voluntary compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in local communities across North Carolina. Having an entity serve as a fiscal agent will give these groups the capacity to conduct ADA projects and trainings in local communities throughout North Carolina.

In releasing these funds, the North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) seeks to make an important investment in small grassroots groups to access the funds they need to conduct and participate in advocacy activities that promote the Americans with Disabilities Act

Budget

In addition to submitting a proposal for this RFA, you must complete the budget form in DD Suite for the first year of the initiative. This initiative is funded in the amount of $40,000. A 25% non-Federal match in the amount of $13,333. is required for this initiative. This matching requirement means that 25% of the total initiative budget (Council funds + Match Funds) must come from non-Federal funds (e.g. state, local, agency, and/or private funds). If you need assistance calculating the amount required for the federal grant match, please download this Excel tool.

Who May Apply

Applications are welcomed from any university, non-profit, for-profit or government agency that demonstrates that their agency is qualified, responsible, and capable of conducting the activities described. Eligible entities include any organizations, agencies, or businesses demonstrating an expertise in the focus area of this initiative. To be eligible, non-profit private entities must submit proof of 501(c)3 status with a current IRS determination letter. The Council will not consider applications submitted by agencies that do not meet eligibility to apply for funding.

Applicants must be registered with the North Carolina Secretary of State to conduct business in North Carolina, or be willing to complete the registration process in conjunction with the execution of the contract documents at: http://www.sosnc.gov/corporations.
